APRA Congratulates Lisa Jackson as the Next Administrator of EPA

January 6, 2009

CHANTILLY, VA -- The Automotive Parts Remanufacturers Association (APRA) extends congratulations to Lisa Jackson who will become the next Administrator of the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency.

“On behalf of APRA and the nation’s entire remanufacturing industry, we congratulate you on your appointment to lead the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency,” stated APRA President, William Gager.

“Remanufacturing is the Ultimate Form of Recycling and saves vast amounts of energy, natural resources, reduces air pollution and keeps material from ending up in landfills. And, more recently, our industry has been recognized as one that plays a major part in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Remanufacturing is also an engine of job creation because it is a labor intensive industry,” added Gager.

As an industry, APRA is fully committed to working with Jackson and the staff at EPA to support a remanufacturing agenda that will:
• Enact policies that strengthen all segments of the remanufacturing community especially the biggest segment…automotive and truck parts
• Establish and facilitate trade policies that promote the export of remanufactured parts by US companies
• Recognize the major part that our industry can play in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and making American manufacturing more energy and material efficient
