HD Engine Failure Analysis Seminar Featured at BIG R Show
July 21, 2009
CHANTILLY, VIRGINIA – Failure analysis as a marketing and customer
satisfaction tool for heavy duty engine remanufacturers is an important topic to
be covered at the Automotive Parts Remanufacturers Association’s 2009
International BIG R Show in Las Vegas, Nevada on October 31 – November 2.
Every engine rebuild begins with an engine performance problem. For
remanufacturers, determining the cause of the failure can go a long way toward
solidifying customer relationships and preventing future performance issues. As
previously announced, the 2009 BIG R Show will have an emphasis on diesel engine
remanufacturing. To that end, APRA’s Heavy Duty Remanufacturing Group (HDRG) has
arranged for several industry experts to discuss how and why engine failures
occur and how to prevent them. All are industry veterans who have analyzed
engine related problems and will be able to give attendees real life examples of
failures and their causes and solutions.
Bob Gaylen of TAWAS, Inc. in Noblesville, Indiana, will chair the seminar. His
company is involved in analyzing failures and recommending solutions to many
OEM’s and large users of diesel engines. He also is an expert on the vehicle
electrical systems and how that system interfaces with the mechanical systems.
Steve Scott, Technical Service Manager for IPD, which is a leading supplier of
CAT engine parts to the independent channels, will also be on hand to share his
extensive experience with real world engine problems. IPD will be exhibiting in
the Heavy Duty Engine Section of the BIG R Show, which is being sponsored by
ENGINE BUILDER magazine.
Arrangements are being made for additional speakers to join Bob and Scott who
will discuss a variety of topics of interest to the HD Engine rebuilder/
distributor – from the failure analysis of engine parts to fuel systems and oil
analysis.
